Supports Sun teams, customers and/or partners by providing technical expertise in one or more Sun or 3rd party products or technologies and industry/business solutions. Contributes significantly to sales opportunities with research, consultancy and guidance on specific technologies or environments. Provides technical leadership in one or more areas of product or technology expertise. Duties & Main Responsibilities: Advise customers and bid teams on the most effective use of Sun products and technologies, complementary 3rd party technologies or business solutions in specific environments or to meet specific customer needs.Advise bid teams in competitive sales situations, providing in depth technical information on competing products and technologies.Produce research and provide information and configuration support to Senior TEs and bid teams.Develop and maintain relationships with bid teams, colleagues in Enterprise Services and ProfessionalServices and complementary 3rd party product / technology providers.Provide expert input to bid responses on specific products or technologies.Participate in benchmarks, proof of concepts or similar.Identify customer requirements for Sun products, and the implications of using these products within particular environments.Develop and deliver technical presentations to Sun, customer or partner technical staff.Own and disseminate product, technology or business solution knowledge sets to the Sun technical community.Mentor the technical development of Junior or less experienced Technical Engineers.Provide feedback from the field to product and technology business units.Provide technical training on products, technologies or solutions to Sun and/or partner sales and technical staff.Qualifications /Skills requirements: The following points highlight jobspecific clarifications or complementary skills.Sun Products - a excellent understanding of current Sun Microsystems product capabilities to level 2 as defined in the SE Excellence program and to level 3 in a minimum of two focus areas.Partner Products - a excellent understanding of 3rd party hardware and software product capabilities and prices and how these can co-exist with Sun Microsystems products.
